Encyclopedia Of Behavior Modification And Cognitive Behavior Therapy Description: The three-volume Encyclopedia of Behavior Modification and Cognitive Behavior Therapy provides a thorough examination of the components of behavior modification, behavior therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, and applied behavior analysis for both child and adult populations in a variety of settings. Although the focus is on technical applications, entries also provide the historical context in which behavior therapists have worked, including research issues and strategies. Entries on assessment, ethical concerns, theoretical differences, and the unique contributions of key figures in the movement (including B. F. Skinner, Joseph Wolpe, Aaron T. Beck, and many others) are also included. No other reference source provides such comprehensive treatment of behavior modification—history, biography, theory, and application.

International Handbook Of Behavior Modification And Therapy Description: It is particularly gratifying to prepare a second edition of a book, because there is the necessary impli cation that the first edition was well received. Moreover, now an opportunity is provided to correct the problems or limitations that existed in the first edition as well as to address recent developments in the field. Thus, we are grateful to our friends, colleagues, and students, as well as to the reviewers who have expressed their approval of the first edition and who have given us valuable input on how the revision could best be structured. Perhaps the first thing that the reader will notice about the second edition is that it is more extensive than the first. The volume currently has 41 chapters, in contrast to the 31 chapters that comprised the earlier version. Chapters 3, 9, 29, and 30 of the first edition either have been dropped or were combined, whereas 14 new chapters have been added. In effect, we are gratified in being able to reflect the continued growth of behavior therapy in the 1980s. Behavior therapists have addressed an ever-increasing number of disorders and behavioral dysfunctions in an increasing range of populations. The most notable advances are taking place in such areas as cognitive approaches, geriatrics, and behavioral medicine, and also in the treatment of childhood disorders.

Progress In Behavior Modification Description: Progress in Behavior Modification, Volume 3, is a multidisciplinary serial publication that encompasses the contributions of psychology, psychiatry, social work, speech therapy, education, and rehabilitation. This serial aims to meet the need for a review publication that undertakes to present yearly in-depth evaluations that include a scholarly examination of theoretical underpinnings, a careful survey of research findings, and a comparative analysis of existing techniques and methodologies. The discussions center on a wide spectrum of child and adult disorders. The present volume opens with a chapter on behavior modification and hypnosis. This is followed by separate chapters on applications of behavior modification procedures in classroom settings; smoking behavior modification; and psychotherapy outcome research. Subsequent chapters deal with the behavioral approach to teaching learning disabled children; evaluation of animal analogues of behavioral treatment; therapy for sexual dysfunction; and research in the area of transfer of training of operant treatment effects with children.

Cognitive Behavior Modification Description: This book is an account of a personal journey through a research program. A number of people have helped guide my way. To them I am deeply grateful. Special thanks are offered to my students, whose constant stimulation and provocation were incentives to write this book. Moreover, in the belief that they would never show the initiative to put together a festschrift for me (Le., a book dedicated to someone for his contributions), I decided to do it myself. Several people cared enough to offer editorial criticisms, namely, Myles Genest, Barney Gilmore, Roy Cameron, Sherryl Goodman, and Dennis Turk. The reader benefits from their perspicacity. Finally, to my parents, who taught me to talk to myself, and to my family, without whose constant input this book would have been completed much sooner, but would have been much less fun, I dedicate this book. Organizational Behavior 3 Description: This volume makes available in one place the large body of research that has been developed over the years on role motivation theory. Author Jack Miner has always been concerned with unconscious factors in human experience, and this work is designed to give proper emphasis to their role in organizational behavior. Part I reviews the current status of projective techniques and the recent work that has been done on unconscious motivation. Part II covers Miner's significant research in the field, from his early work at the Atlantic Refining Company to his career-long leadership studies of Princeton University graduates. The chapters in Part III involve psychometric data analysis, meta-analysis, and factor analysis.

Guidelines For The Design Of Double Layer Grids Description: Prepared by the Task Committee on Double-Layer Grids of the Committee on Special Structures of the Structural Engineering Institute of ASCE. This report provides guidelines for the design of double-layer grids, a type of space frame. Space frames are three-dimensional, lattice-type structures that provide great rigidity and inherent redundancy. Space frames are one of the more efficient uses of structural materials, and they satisfy demand for large column-free areas. The most common example of a space frame is the double-layer grid, which consists of two parallel layers of top and bottom cords interconnected by inclined and/or vertical web members. This report provides an overview of double-layer grids and discusses their structural behavior. Various methods to analyze these structures?including static analysis, dynamic analysis, thermal analysis, and optimization analysis?are explored. This guide concludes with experimental studies involving double-layer grids and implications for design.
